The Burned Out Assistant

The Burned Out Assistant is about coming back online after burnout. I write for people who are tired of optimizing and ready to listen to themselves again.

If you’ve just arrived, welcome.

Most people find their way to me during a period of change.

Sometimes that change is obvious — burnout, job loss, a career pivot, or a life stage shift. Other times it’s harder to name. You simply know that the way you’ve been living or working no longer feels sustainable.

  • You may feel tired.
  • You may feel uncertain.
  • You may simply feel like something needs to change, but you’re not sure what that change looks like yet.

This space exists for that in-between moment.

What This Work Is About

I write and teach about the not-so-glamorous work of rebuilding a life after things stop working the way they used to.

That might include:

  • recovering from burnout
  • navigating career or identity transitions
  • redefining work after years of overfunctioning
  • learning how to make decisions again after a long period of exhaustion
  • rebuilding a sense of curiosity, creativity, and direction

I've healed from hustle culture, I don't preach productivity hacks, and don't recommend dramatic reinvention stories.

Real change happens slowly, through small decisions made with greater clarity, brought to you by life experience.

That’s the kind of work I'm here to support.

If You’re Navigating a Transition

If you’re in a season where life or work feels like it’s shifting beneath your feet, you may want to visit the In Transition page.

It explains more about the kind of work I do and how I support people during periods of change.

If You’d Like to Stay Connected

The best way to follow along is through my newsletter.

Each week I share reflections on burnout recovery, rebuilding after difficult seasons, and the slow work of figuring out what comes next.

You’ll also hear about new resources, events, and ways to work together as they become available.

Nothing here assumes you already have the answers.

Most people arrive while they’re still figuring things out.

That’s exactly where this work begins.
